My Favourite Apps for Saving (and Making Money)

My Favourite Apps for Saving (and Making Money)

So, I’m in love with my cell phone.  I’m the worst with it.  Like if I don’t have it with me, my chest actually feels tighter.  I use it for EVERYTHING.  Banking, games, keeping in touch, converting my weight in pounds to kilograms because it’s a smaller number, etc.  (It’s actually a problem and I actually think it’s something I need to work on but that’s not the point of this post).

The point is that since I’m already on my phone all the time, I might as well use it to make / save me some money!  And so I do!  And Pinterest is LITTERED with posts about that, but guys, they’re all American.  And that sucks.  Because I get all excited and find out that the app that someone just said paid for their new car and changed their life isn’t available for me.  (Not that I’m making car money on these – but again – every little bit counts.)

So all my fellow Canucks – this is for you.  Apps that are awesome for us northern frugalistas.

  1. FLIPP – I freaking FLIP for Flipp.  (See what I did there? Har har har).  But seriously, I use this app every time I go shopping.  It’s got my flyers and I can clip stuff for price matching.  I can make a shopping list.  I can see how good of a deal it is in percentages.  It’s got coupons that you can send and print.  It’s got it all.
  2. Caddle – This one is Canadian specific.  You get cash back for uploading your receipt for certain items and they’ll also give you money for doing surveys and watching ads.   So once you get to $20.00 you can cash out and they’ll send you a cheque. Pro Tip – check it out on Friday’s – they sometimes have an additional item available only on Friday.  If you’re looking to download it, click here.
  3. Checkout 51 – So this is the same idea as Caddle.  I don’t know if it’s because they don’t do generic products like Caddle (i.e. earn $0.25 for buying bread) but I find I earn money slower on here compared to Caddle.  However, they have recently added that you can add your loyalty cards to Checkout 51 so you have it all in one place, which is pretty good.  It’s the same as Caddle – $20 and you can cash out.
  4. Field Agent – This is basically a “do tasks and earn money” app.  For example, some of the ones that I’ve done have been like “go to this store, look at this display and answer some questions.”  Super easy and if you’re already out and about, it’s really not taking much out of your day.  Jobs pay between $3 and $12.  Make sure you keep up to date on the screener surveys – that will open you up to more jobs.

There are other coupon and flyer apps but they just haven’t clicked with me.

What is your favourite app to earn/save money with your phone?  What am I missing out on?
